Fans go wild when Mercedes makes fun of Valtteri Botta's meme

Valtteri Bottas is at the top of that list among the riders who enjoyed their race at the Italian Grand Prix last week. Despite a take-off penalty for a new engine, the Finn pulled through a series of overtaking maneuvers to land on the podium.

While his on-track actions caught the attention of fans, those after the race drew just as much, if not more, to them. During the post-race interview, ex-Red Bull driver David Coulthard Bottas’ attention was drawn to the screen behind him, which showed a replay of the Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton accident.

The Finn’s reaction led social media to create a new meme that Mercedes will recognize ahead of the Russian Grand Prix.

Mercedes uses Valtteri Bottas to remind fans of the Russian Grand Prix

Bottas showed an enormous pace all weekend in Monza. He secured pole on Friday and won the sprint race on Saturday to get three points before the race on Sunday. However, the need for a fourth engine resulted in the 32-year-old receiving a grid penalty that put him on P19.

Despite that setback, he made an impressive shift, landing three seconds behind Lando Norris, who finished second. Before stepping onto the podium, Bottas saw a replay of the Verstappen-Hamilton incident. After seeing the crash, the Finn simply turned around and smiled slightly while mentioning that it was unfortunate.

This sparked multiple reactions on Twitter, and Mercedes even confirmed their veteran driver’s hilarious reaction. Ahead of the Russian Grand Prix, they reminded their fans that this week is race week as they referenced Bottas from Drive to Survive.

In the third season of the Netflix show, cameras recorded the Finn saying “Traditions” while he was enjoying a beer after last year’s victory in Sochi.

Her fans have sent several reactions to this post from the Silver Arrows. While some have credited Bottas’ reaction, others were hoping for more incidents from the championship protagonists to see this reaction on a regular basis.

I really want Lewis and Max to crash into each other for the next 8 races and Bottas to just roll by and win the championship out of nowhere. pic.twitter.com/Q3fZl8qUNa

Can Bottas book victories in a row at the Sochi Autodrom?

Although Lewis Hamilton suffered a 10-second penalty, Bottas showed tremendous skill to earn his victory at last year’s Russian Grand Prix. The Finn is quite a threat on this track and won his first F1 race here in 2017.

After his impressive drive in Monza, the 32-year-old looks a lot better this season than he did at the beginning of this season. And since the Sochi Autodrom is one of Mercedes’ strongest circuits, Bottas could be a favorite for his first win of the season.
