Sebastian Vettel has hit back at Canadian policitican Sonya Savage after he labeled the Aston Martin star a ‘hypocrite’.
Savage launched a personal attack on the German F1 driver over his environmental stance following the Canadian GP. Vettel, who has been outspoken in his push for environmental awareness, wore a T-shirt in the paddock that read: “Stop mining tar sands – Canada’s climate crime”, relating to the oil sands operation in Alberta.
Vettel was criticized for his stance by Savage, with the politician pointing out that he drives Formula One cars for a living. But the German retaliated, saying: “”It is right but what you miss and, I am a little bit disappointed that politicians and politics jumps on a personal level because it is not about me, you know, it is not all about me, it is about the bigger picture.
“Yes, I am a hypocrite doing what I love. We all have different passions, this is the way that I paint my canvas. There are solutions for the future to make it more sustainable and not rely on… the future in that regard looks exciting.”
