Jerome d’Ambrosio has become the latest high-profile figure to leave the newly named Maserati Formula E Team, as it transitions from Venturi for the upcoming season and start of Gen3.
D’Ambrosio joined Venturi in 2020 as deputy team principal but took on the role of team principal in 2021 after Susie Wolff relinquished the role to become the team’s CEO.
With d’Ambrosio in charge, Venturi enjoyed their most successful season yet in the all-electric series, where the Monegasque team came an all-time best of second in the Constructors’ Championship, whilst driver Edoardo Mortara claimed third in the Drivers’ Championship .
Both Mortara and fellow ex-F1 driver Lucas Di Grassi tasted victory in 2022; however, it’s all change for the team next season.

Venturi are currently transitioning into Maserati MSG Racing, something which has seen an incredible amount of change at the team.
Wolff, who is the wife of Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff, left her role as the side’s CEO, with Di Grassi having also left the side to race for Mahindra next season.
D’Ambrosio, therefore, becomes the third big departure from the team, which appears to be destroying its Venturi roots.
Following his departure, the 36-year-old released a statement, explaining how he “could not have wished for a better environment” to work in.
“After two incredible seasons, my journey with the team comes to an end,” said d’Ambrosio.
“As I move forward to pursue new opportunities, I would like to thank everyone in the team for their work and dedication which has led us to our most competitive campaign to date last season.
“I would also like to thank Susie, Scott and José for having entrusted me with leading the organization as team principal. It has been a privilege and I could not have wished for a better environment to evolve in after transitioning from my racing driver career.
“I wish everyone in the team the very best as they will be moving into a new era of the Championship.”
Scott Swid, Principal Owner & Chairman of the Monaco Sports Group (MSG), thanked d’Ambrosio for his “invaluable contribution” and wished the Belgian all the best for the future.

“We thank Jérôme for his invaluable contribution over the past two seasons, in which he has played a crucial role in helping to bring our vision for the team to life,” said Swid.
“On a personal note, I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved together, and by putting the best people in place, we’ve built a strong team with bold aspirations for the future.
“With this in mind, I’m excited to see what the future holds for both him and us as we edge ever closer to the start of Formula E’s next generation of competition this January.”
