Interestingly, reports surfaced that both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas used different chassis for the races.

The Finn primarily used the fifth chassis for the races in Bahrain and Imola. Bottas, however, later switched to the 4th Mercedes W12 chassis for Portugal, Spain, Monaco and Baku.
Since the 4th chassis obviously didn’t work for him, the 31-year-old will take over a new chassis. Whether he will now return to the 5th chassis or use a different one remains to be seen.

Lewis Hamilton struggles with the same problems in his Mercedes
It’s worth noting that this problem wasn’t limited to Bottas. Apparently Lewis Hamilton also had similar problems and had to change the chassis.
As it turned out, the reigning Formula 1 world champion used chassis # 6 for the first 5 races. However, he opted for the # 3 chassis in Azerbaijan, which obviously didn’t work out well for him.
Now the two Mercedes drivers will swap the chassis again, with Hamilton using the # 4 chassis and Bottas using the # 6 chassis.

Time will tell if these changes make a difference this weekend. The Mercedes team urgently needs a good result to get its championship challenge back on track.
For the first time, the German giants and Lewis Hamilton are behind in the championship.

Of course, the team wants to get rid of that and regain the lead in the World Cup. The big question is, will they make it in France or will Red Bull continue its good run?
One thing is certain, Max Verstappen will be similarly motivated after his spectacular fall in Baku.
