The American was later handed a point penalty, as well as a game penalty against her. Furthermore, she also labeled the umpire a “Liar” and a “cheat”. Osaka eventually won the match 6-2, 6-4, and lifted her maiden Grand Slam in tennis.

Serena’s behavior in the US GP had split opinions about her behavior. However, she had a staunch supporter in F1 GOAT, Lewis Hamilton. The 103-race winner took to his social media to show his support for the 6-time US Open champion.

Hamilton captioned, “Forever a champion. This day was sent for a reason, so that you could fulfill your purpose. What you stand for is far greater than any game won, you’re an inspiration for the world and I’m inspired by you.”
The 7-time champion also congratulated the 2018 US Open champion, Naomi Osaka in his post. He wrote, “Congrats to Naomi Osaka, it’s so great to see the mix of cultures and to see people breaking down barriers. #champion #goat”
Hamilton himself endured a difficult year with Mercedes after losing out on his dream 8th title in a heartwrenching manner. The Silver Arrows star hopes to take inspiration from his champion friend and bounce back next season.
