Valtteri Bottas did it again! With his open personality, the Mercedes driver is slowly developing into a man of the people. Bottas put his team under the microscope again with a meme in his Instagram story for his sixth PU change this season. Since Mercedes entrusted their driver with another engine change, Bottas had to accept another penalty; obviously it was weird for the driver too.

Although Mercedes looked strong in practice on Friday, the team decided Bottas needed another engine upgrade. Looking back, the Finn scored his first penalty in Monza, where he was deprived of pole position. He also got his fifth ICE in Sochi, which put him at the bottom of the grid; Now, in Austin, Bottas started on P9 after another session.
That’s three engine changes in four races. No wonder that Bottas can make a profit with his engine business!
Valtteri Bottas’ timid Sunday in Austin
Despite the upgrades, it wasn’t a big race for Bottas on Sunday. The Finn started from P9 and crossed the checkered flag in sixth place. The only notable moments of his race were fighting with Yuki Tsunoda before overtaking him and overtaking Carlos Sainz on the final lap.
Regardless of the two places, it was a rather disappointing race for Bottas. Despite the more powerful car, the driver saw the rear end of the AlphaTauri and Ferrari longer than he would have liked. He also missed the decisive championship fight in the front.

Bottas rightly described his race as uneventful. “It was a pretty uneventful race for me, we did our best, but it wasn’t easy to fight our way through the field. It was difficult to move forward and we knew that because of the temperatures here and the nature of the track, it would be like that. “

Before the weekend, however, Bottas was the last winner of the US GP. Maybe the midfield cars weren’t as competitive two years ago as they are today; a challenge for the Mercedes.
