As the legendary Italian team in the history of Formula 1 and motorsport, Ferrari’s performance on home soil is key to impressing the Tifosi.

Italian circuits occupy a valuable place in the record statistics and history of the team. After a decent performance in Bahrain, the Maranello-based team travels to Imola for the second round of the championship. They expect to fight in the top 10 on the grid, which would be an improvement over last year.

Former Ferrari driver and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher won the maximum number of races in Imola. The German’s last victory on this legendary racetrack was against the current Formula 1 driver and two-time champion Fernando Alonso.

A race in the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo and Dino Ferrari – named after the Ferrari founder and his son – arouses the team’s expectations and conveys a sense of nostalgia. So far, they have competed in 28 Grand Prix held on this track and taken six pole positions, eight wins and 28 podiums, a statistic that they are proud of.

With a fundamentally faulty car and an underpowered engine, Ferrari couldn’t make a mark last season. However, their recent performance in Bahrain underscores the team’s potential to score consistent points.

Ferrari wants to fight old rival McLaren at Imola

On the way of Formula 1 to Europe, Ferrari’s goal is to achieve third place in the constructors’ championship. You are facing a major challenge from McLaren, who finished third last year. The Scuderia battling their old Woking rival is a sight the sport has not seen in a decade.

It remains one of the most anticipated battles Formula 1 enthusiasts look forward to. The teams have been fierce rivals in the past and are set to resume their controversial relationship this season.

Ferrari’s SF21 has a more aero-efficient chassis compared to its competitors. However, McLaren’s MCL 37 is powered by a Mercedes engine, which will be a significant advantage on a performance-sensitive racetrack like Imola.

Both teams were equal in the race in Bahrain. The McLaren finished in P4 and P7 while Ferrari ended in P6 and P8.

Ferrari has to repeat a methodical approach on a track that is better suited to its rivals. The team has to get through qualifying, which is crucial at Imola.

The track position plays a key role on the track. The narrow track doesn’t offer a lot of overtaking opportunities, which is why Saturday’s session is crucial. A clean run in qualifying will ensure Ferrari can hold back its Mercedes rivals.
