Formula 1 is one of the most glamorous and prestigious sports in the world. Remember, of the 7 billion people in the world, only 20 are F1 drivers. But we shouldn’t forget that F1 drivers are just like us. They do and experience normal everyday things, such as walking their dog, cycling down the street, banging their toe on a table, or being mugged.

Yes, even Formula 1 drivers are not immune to crime. Just ask McLaren driver Lando Norris.
In the summer of 2021, the Brit moved into the final of the Euro 2020 at London’s Wembley Stadium. And after the game in which Italy beat England, Norris was ambushed on the way home and lost his incredibly rare and expensive Richard Mille watch.

After attending the Euro 2020 final at Wembley last night, Lando Norris was robbed when he got into his McLaren GT.
He was “unharmed,” but his custom-made Richard Mille $ 100,000 watch was stolen.

In a statement, police said of Norris and the incident: “He was approached by two men who engaged him in a conversation.” “A short time later, he was attacked by one of the men and held while the watch was taken from his wrist,” the statement said.
“The victim was understandably shaken, but suffered no permanent injuries.”
How did Lando Norris and Formula 1 react to this news?
Following the incident, F1 released a statement that read: “McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident following the 2020 Euro Final at Wembley where the watch he was wearing was involved.”
And Lando Norris, who of course was also “shaken” after the attack, expressed the frightening feeling it left him. “The hard thing is the shock of realizing that it can happen to anyone, including yourself, if you never believe it will happen to you or the chance there is very little,” he said.

“The shock that you can still be vulnerable in any position is a frightening thing and I don’t wish it for anyone.”

Lando Norris’ watch has not yet been found. But that’s something he or anyone else doesn’t care. We are all glad that the young F1 star was safe.

But you have to admit that, albeit unhappy and unsolicited, it was a hell of a good way for a celebrity to bond with ordinary people.
