Former McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is arguably one of the best drivers F1 has ever seen. And his success on the track has earned him one of the largest fan bases in the world.

You’d think it’s the greatest when you compare it to other colleagues on the grid. And the McLaren duo Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo also recognized this theory when they played a game called “Mr and Mrs” against each other.
What did the McLaren drivers say?

During the game, drivers were given a handful of posters with specific scenarios. Both had to decide which of them would fit the scenario perfectly. One of the questions was: “Who has the best fans?”
It initially looked like the fight was going to be pretty tough considering Ricciardo has a huge fan base and so does his teammate. Ricciardo gave up the fight, however, by putting former McLaren driver Hamilton in the spotlight.
The Briton has become the face of Formula 1 over the years. Hence, Ricciardo believed that Hamilton had the best fans.
“We don’t have the right face for this ‘who has the best fans?’ It’s definitely Lewis. Every place we go, right? ”Said Ricciardo. And Norris, being British himself, couldn’t help but confirm the fact.
He also believed that Hamilton’s fan base is not limited to nationality, but is spread around the world. “Of course he has the best fans everywhere,” Norris replied to Ricciardo’s claim.
Best fans – Ricciardo or Norris?
The answer is now Ricciardo. Norris is of course one of the most interesting drivers in the field at the moment. And his fan base grows rapidly with every race weekend. However, the only aspect where Ricciardo succeeds in replacing his teammate is experience.
Ricciardo has been in business since 2011. And throughout that decade, Ricciardo has won fans through his hilarious team radio talks, press conferences, and also his sheer pace on the track.

But his reign is temporary, of course, as Norris is sure to become one of the most famous F1 drivers.
The Brit earned himself fans through Formula 1, yes. But besides racing, there are a few other goals like Twitch and social media that fans rave about in support of the young British driver. Can Norris’ fan base, who won’t join F1 until 2019, eventually grow to be the biggest? Only time can tell.
