Why drink champagne out of a champagne bottle when you can drink it out of a sweaty boot? That is Daniel Ricciardo’s motto when he steps on the podium. The Australian’s ‘shoey’ celebration has become a classic as years have gone by. Last time we witnessed it was during the 2021 Italian GP after Ricciardo’s stunning victory with McLaren.

But, did you imagine Post Malone recreating Ricciardo’s ‘shoey’? We certainly didn’t. The popular rapper entertained the crowd on Saturday as he drank champagne out of a boat. And by the looks of it, he certainly enjoyed it.

Post Malone was one of the celebrities, in the enormous list of household names attending the Miami GP. Saturday’s atmosphere was racing, music, and energy (in fact, too much energy) when Post Malone took the stage to hype up the audience at the qualifying. He even drank champagne from an audience member’s shoe during his performance.

The fans, meanwhile, certainly went wild. “Delicious” – the word used by Post Malone himself after he drank the champagne out of the boot. It is fair to say the American enjoys Ricciardo’s classic celebration. The Honey Badger and Post Malone also met during the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Ricciardo had a disappointing evening in Miami as he crashed out of Q2. He will start P14 ahead of Mick Schumacher.

Daniel Ricciardo fails to deliver on Saturday

The 32-year-old had a solid run in the Q1 session. However, things took a turn in Q2, as he was surprisingly eliminated. His teammate Lando Norris will start 8th, but McLaren will hope for some fortune during Sunday’s race for Ricciardo to finish in the points.

Speaking after qualifying, Daniel said, “The first run we lost a lot of time through the second sector, so there were a couple of things which we were looking to address for the second run.

“But then we had an issue in the garage starting the car which delayed us getting out at the right time. This compromised the out-lap, and then it was all just too compromised from there. It was unfortunate and cost us Q3, and that was that.”

The Woking-based outfit will expect more for Ricciardo as the season progresses. However, on Sunday they will look for damage limitation and hope both drivers can secure points.
