It was hands down a special weekend for the entire McLaren racing team at the Circuit of The Americas, and the man in the spotlight was Daniel Ricciardo, who loves the South American lifestyle and even dressed up as one for the first session on Thursday .

What was special about the weekend? The Honey Badger was finally able to take racing legend Dale Earnhardt’s 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlos NASCAR Stock Car for a spin after winning a bet (race win at the 2021 Italian GP) against McLaren boss Zak Brown.

But it wasn’t. Ricciardo was also able to spend his weekend with a couple of Buffalo Bills NFL fans who had little knowledge of F1. It all started Tuesday, and by Friday of that week the two had been using McLaren’s services, including skydiving, talking to Zak Brown on the phone, and driving around in a McLaren road car.

As Ricciardo walked by by cameramen around him on Saturday, one of the Bills fans praised the Australian by comparing his paparazzi to those of Kim Kardashian.
What did the McLaren fans say?
In the background of the two fans, Nolan Ringo and Matthew Reigelsperger, the # 3 Wrangler parked with Ricciardo in the cockpit. And there were cameras everywhere that found ways to photograph both the car and the favorite driver in it.
Hence, Nolan suspected that Ricciardo has much bigger paparazzi compared to world famous media personality Kim Kardashian.
“Kim Kardashian has no idea how many paparazzi Daniel Ricciardo has to deal with,” the Bills fan told McLaren.
Strong weekend for Daniel Ricciardo?
It was indeed a slow start to Ricciardo’s campaign at McLaren. While Lando Norris was busy scooping big points from every race weekend, Ricciardo struggled to fight outside the top 10. But things took a wild turn after the summer break.

Even though Norris’ pace is unchanged, Ricciardo has visibly improved his game. He now has a race win in his name, which makes him the 5th different race winner of the 2021 season and leaves his teammates behind several times.

So can Ricciardo produce another weekend like this in Mexico? Well, it all depends on how Ferrari fares over the weekend. The Reds are likely a lot faster than McLaren thanks to their new engine update.

So the only way Ricciardo can finish ahead of the two Ferraris is to do a commendable qualifying and not lose it by at least the fourth lap of the first lap of the race. But what does reality have in store for the honey badger?
