“However, determining the value or fair market value of a classic car (FMV) goes beyond assessing the condition of the body, mechanical integrity and the level of restoration carried out to bring the vehicle to life.
“When it comes to the most expensive cars sold at auction, wealthy car collectors are looking for two things: limited production and racing heritage.
“These two key factors play an essential role in determining the value of a future classic, but you should also consider market demand.”
For vehicles valued below $ 100,000 (£ 71,000), the two-door BMW 1600 Convertible tops the list over the past 15 years, increasing by $ 79,100 (£ 56,200).
According to NetCredit, which was manufactured between 1962 and 1977, the model was a “critical” part of BMW history.

However, NetCredit experts have warned that prices for more modern classics could skyrocket in the coming years.
Power imports from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s such as the A80 Toyota Supra, Nissan Skyline R32 / R33 / R34, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution series may not cost as much as a 1962 Ferrari right now 250 GTO.
