Ah, the McLaren F1. Probably the largest car ever built. Developed with just one thought to be the greatest driver car ever. F1 is the brainchild of Professor Gordon Murray, who headed McLaren’s Formula 1 team in the late 1980s. In 1988, he presented McLaren’s top management with the idea of developing a car with a central driving position, a naturally aspirated V12 engine with high capacity, an ultra-light curb weight and no driving aids while waiting at the Italian airport returning from the Italian GP. And hey, he got the go card with a blank check. The production car McLaren F1 hit the market in 1992 with all the boxes on Gordon’s list ticked.
