“Three races in a row can be intense” – Lando Norris

"Three races in a row can be intense" - Lando Norris

The McLaren F1 team continue to these weekends French Grand Prix, after a good weekend of relaxation in Azerbaijan after looking a bit off the pace.

To the Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, this weekend also marks the start of the first triple header of the season, a physically demanding time for drivers and mechanics. Norris has been one of the star players so far this season, the Brit is well aware of how intense the triple header will be, especially now that some of the other midfield teams are finding their form.

“Looking back on Baku, we recovered well and scored some important points for the constructors’ championship,” said Norris. “At the same time, we can learn a lot from the weekend that we can take with us into the three-way header.”

“Three races in a row can be intense, but everyone on the track and at the factory is prepared and continues to give everything to give us the best chances in the battle for points. As a team, we have to keep applying pressure to get the best out of the car in order to stay in this close battle with our competitors. “

This weekend the championship is off the road, with each lap of the Triple Header starting from a traditional circuit, something Norris hopes will bring good races.

“Switching from a number of street circuits to more traditional routes with France and Austria will be an exciting challenge. It’s great to be going back to Paul Ricard for the French Grand Prix after everything that happened last year. It’s a fun, fast track with a mixture of corners and opportunities for good racing. “

“Let’s stay focused” – Daniel Ricciardo

For Ricciardo, the season is still struggling to get going. The Australian is still unable to keep up with team-mate Norris in a situation that quickly worries the driver.

Despite all that, the upcoming triple header is exactly what Ricciardo could need, the driver is looking forward to having more time at the wheel, not only to cover more kilometers, but also to boost his self-confidence.

“We’re going to France this week to start the first triple header of the season and I can’t wait to get started. Three races in a row can be seen as a challenge, but it’s also a great opportunity to continuously get time in the car and really build on the progress we’ve made so far. ”

“The ability to do more miles in a row over the next three weekends, combined with the work we’ve done in the simulator, will hopefully put us in a good position and further increase my confidence in the car.”

Like Norris, Ricciardo is looking forward to racing on a much more forgiving track than Monaco and Baku in the hope that his season will begin.

“We definitely had a productive weekend in Baku with several positive moments. I’m looking forward to driving with Paul Ricard this weekend. It’s a much more conventional and forgiving track than Baku that also involves a little less risk. So let’s stay focused, try to get everything click and see what we can do! “
