If you want to own a McLaren F1, you have to part with at least $ 20 million. The next best thing, however, has just hit sale on eBay and takes the form of a McLaren F1 replica based on a Porsche Boxster.
The car is for sale in the Czech Republic but has not yet had any bids at the time of writing. Still, this is one of the most impressive McLaren F1 replicas we’ve ever seen and it could certainly make a few people think it’s real.

The body of the car is very similar to a real F1 and was believed to have all been handcrafted. There are F1-style headlights that add to the real look, although the simple LED daytime running lights look a bit cheap. Elsewhere, the replica sits on a set of matte black wheels and even has the same butterfly doors as the McLaren. Heck, it even has a roof scoop, the same type of engine cover, and an almost identical rear apron with a fixed wing and four tailpipes.
The builder obviously spent a lot of time with it, as it even has a central driving position and many of the original interior fittings of the Porsche Boxster, including the instrument panels, have been retained. Unfortunately, the car has an automatic transmission rather than a gear stick like the F1, but still you don’t often see an affordable replica with a central driving position.
