This $ 15 million McLaren F1 has less than 250 miles on the clock

This $ 15 million McLaren F1 has less than 250 miles on the clock

This is a McLaren F1. It is the answer to most questions about what a supercar should look like. It’s special, and of all the McLaren F1s left on planet Earth, this is more special than most.

Because it has traveled less than 250 miles in its entire life, which makes it practically brand new. Welcome to a nineties British supercar valued at over $ 15 million.

Gooding & Company is auctioning this F1 at its Pebble Beach sale and says, “It is an almost unprecedented opportunity to get an F1 in virtually factory condition.” Unsurprisingly, Gooding anticipates this car will be the top sale of auction week, with an estimate of, yes, that’s right, over fifteen million dollars.

This car, one of only 106 road and racing F1s ever built, appears to have spent much of its spoiled life “hidden” in a Japanese private collection. We were told it was “carefully maintained and rarely driven,” and its current US-based owner has continued the car’s philosophy of … well, not to be driven.

Think of it as a 240 mph time capsule. For example, it wears the same Goodyear Eagle F1 tires as it did in 1995. This car, chassis 029, was apparently the 25th street car ever built and is the only McLaren F1 painted in ‘Creighton Brown’.

Inside there is light brown and dark brown leather upholstery, and apart from the 627 hp 6.1-liter BMW V12 further inside, you also get another relic from the nineties: a Kenwood stereo system!

Other things also belong to the car. A service booklet. The instruction manual (which probably reads: turn the key, press the big pedal, smile). A titanium tool kit. Adapted luggage. A TAG watch. “This is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire the lowest mile F1 ever presented at auction and gain instant access to one of the most exclusive clubs in the automotive industry,” said Gooding.

Once in a lifetime for those with access to well over $ 15,000,000, of course …
