supercars are only meant for the richest of the rich. Well, at least new ones. And as technology improves in our never-ending evolving world, their powertrains’ power outputs increase, as well as their overall design, but one thing many car enthusiasts tend to overlook is what’s going on inside the cabin.
Over the years we have seen some cars with revolutionary interiors like that of the classic McLaren F1, and we still see never-before-seen designs implemented by automakers like McMurtry with their Spierling, and Mercedes-Benz with their electric prototype cars such as the Vision EQXX.
However, today, we’ll be having a look at supercars that are for sale in the year 2022, and right off the bat, we have to apologize… the Lexus LC500 isn’t enough of a supercar to make its way onto our list, despite it having one of the most exquisite cockpits ever.
10 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
It’s hard to believe, but the latest C8 Corvette has been with us for more than 3 years, and finally, the time has come that Chevrolet feels prepared enough to spoil us with a Z06 variant. And before you lose your mind because a Corvette wounded up on a list consisting of supercars, the Z06 is a true supercar to its core. It’s powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine with an 8,600 rpm redline and an equally impressive 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Overall, the Z06’s interior will be mostly an exact copy of what’s found inside the standard C8, but that’s not necessarily bad. This time around, GM built the Corvette’s interior with quality materials, and slightly titled all the controls towards the driver, the vocal point of this car. And whether you like it or not, that control tunnel in the middle of its cabin might be complicated to learn, but it definitely looks cool and keeps the interior looking fresh.
9 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
Bugatti has never cheapened out when it comes to the materials used in their cars’ assembly, after all, all modern Bugattis are powered by monstrous gas-guzzling quad-turbocharged W16s. That said, their latest model, the Chiron Super Sport might look like an ultra-futuristic supercar, but its interior definitely isn’t – and that’s a good thing.
Bugatti knows their customers; they know most of their creations’ owners will keep their prized possessions locked behind closed doors in an air-conditioned environment, and intend to preserve them for future investment – well, everyone, except Andrew Tate of course. Therefore, Bugatti has kitted their top-tier Chiron with a simplistic leather-wrapped interior that doesn’t have a big touchscreen infotainment system and an old-school mostly-analog gauge cluster. This car’s interior will remain forever timeless.
8th Rimac Nevera
Rimac is relatively new when it comes to producing supercars, and their sole focus is on creating a cleaner, faster future. Their all-electric flagship supercar, the Nevera, produces 1,914 hp and 1,741 lb-ft of torque, and when it puts its power down, it’s capable of reaching 60 mph from a standstill in under two seconds, but there are even more reasons why the Rimac Nevera is our favorite electric car on sale at the moment.
Just like Bugatti, Rimac also isn’t interested in creating bare-boned interiors, thus, they sculpt the inside of the Nevera with exquisite leather that complements its comfortable driving style, and it also features the world’s first-ever artificial driving coach. It’s also worth mentioning that not too long ago, Bugatti and Rimac joined forces, and will strive to create a new-age supercar.
7 Maserati MC20
Before the MC20, Maserati’s only modern supercar was the MC12, and albeit cool, it had a very boring, naked interior since it was basically a racecar for the road. However, the new V6-powered MC20 is much more civilized, and it still retains the same engaging driving experience of its predecessor.
On the inside, the MC20 has the perfect blend of Alcántara, carbon fiber, and leather without compromising the driver’s ride quality. Not just that, but its center infotainment screen is placed lower than a usual car, minimizing the chance for a driver to be distracted while driving – kudos to you, Maserati.
6 McLaren Speedtail
The McLaren Speedtail is the spiritual successor to the legendary F1. However, it is difficult to see the similarities on the outside, on the inside it inherited the same 3-seater layout as its older brother. The one thing the McLaren F1 was known for was its incredible top speed of 240 mph+ back in the early 90s thanks to its naturally-aspirated BMW-built V12 engine, and although the Speedtail strived to break through the same barriers, it can only reach a top speed of 250 mph.
Regardless, on the inside is where this McLaren stands out from the crowd even more. As we’ve mentioned it has three seats, and a steering wheel mounted in the middle. Its side mirrors are cameras, and its entire dashboard is essentially one giant wrap-around screen that makes you feel like you’re driving a car from a Star Trek episode – some futuristic stuff.
5 Lamborghini Sian
You knew we had to add at least one Lamborghini onto this list, and we feel that the Sian is even more incredible on the inside than an Aventador, that’s right, we said it. They might be powered by the same naturally-aspirated V12, but the Sian produces more than 800 hp thanks to the assistance of an electric motor.
When you open the doors and have a look inside, you’re greeted by everything you’d expect a $3.5 million Lamborghini to have. There’s a plethora of hexagons placed throughout the interior, everything is hand-stitched, and its appearance will garner the attention of all passers-by hands-down.
4 Audi R8
To this day, the Audi R8 is considered to be the ideal daily driver supercar. It’s practical, has enough interior room to fit almost anyone’s body type, and has a naturally-aspirated V10 engine that divides all of its power to all four wheels making it usable in any weather condition.
The R8 definitely has the most boring interior on our list, but its beauty lies within its simplicity. There’s no fancy infotainment screen at all, all the R8’s functions are directly controlled by the driver through the digital driver’s display gauge cluster Audi calls the “Virtual Cockpit”.
3 Koenigsegg Gemera
We’ve some unbelievable cars being manufactured in the last 2 years alone, and Koensiggsegg has created a whole new niche in the automotive market – the hyper touring car. That’s right, their latest creation, the Gemera, has an interior that comfortably fits four adults, and is powered by a turbocharged inline-three cylinder with the help of three electric motors to produce a total of 1,700 hp and 2,581 lb-ft of torque .
Obviously, a car with such an outlandish design and powertrain deserves the most over-the-top interior too, and Koenigsegg nailed the head on this one. It’s bold, has a fixed panoramic sunroof, and enough carbon fiber to make a chemist’s heart yearn.
2 Lotus Evija
Earlier this year, Lotus released their new sports car, the Emira, into the wild, and it seems to be one of the best cars of 2022. Lotus didn’t stop there, however, and they cranked the lucidity up with a few notches when they built their full-blown, 1,970-hp electric supercar, the Evija.
Inside the Evija, it looks just as new-age as on the outside. It has a steering wheel resembling that of a Tesla Model S Plaid’s yoke wheel, its doors don’t open by hand, and its center console looks like the control panel of the Death Star.
1 Pagani Huayra Codalunga
The Codalunga Huayra was shown off to the public just recently at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it’s Pagani’s take on an ultra-rare, ultra-fast, ultra-expensive elongated Huyara.
The Codalunga’s interior is inspired by vintage racecars, yet it’s built with modern technology in mind, so there’s a variety of leather, suede, and aluminum all throughout the interior. What’s most noteworthy for us is that gear lever. The Huayra Codalunga has a 7-speed sequential transmission, yet it still embodies the classic, exposed, metal-look you’d expect a vintage racecar to have.
