McLAREN RACING SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH RISING KARTING STAR UGO UGOCHUKWU
The promising young driver was recently crowned FIA European kart champion
McLaren Racing announced today that it has signed a long-term deal with Ugo Ugochukwu, the promising young driver from the USA who was recently crowned FIA European Karting Champion.
The 13-year-old American has proven to be a revelation. He has already secured several titles in his young career in the USA and Europe and most recently won the FIA OKJ European Championship in 2020.
The agreement provides McLaren Racing with an option for Ugo’s future services while supporting its development and advancement through the junior categories of motorsport.
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing said:
“We have followed Ugo’s progress with interest. When the opportunity arose to sign an agreement with him, we had no hesitation in moving on. Now let’s focus on giving Ugo the right support when he needs it to reach his potential. “
Andreas Seidl, McLaren F1 Team Principal, said:
“Ugo is a very promising young talent with strong development prospects. While he is still at the beginning of his career, it is clear that he has the ingredients to be successful in sports. This signing reflects our realigned approach to identifying and nurturing new talent, away from a formal program for young drivers and a bespoke base. “
Ugo Ugochukwu said:
“It is an honor to be signed by such a legendary team as McLaren Racing so early in my career. Having the support from McLaren is fantastic and what every young driver dreams of. At the moment I am concentrating on developing myself as a driver and racing driver. So having McLaren by my side can only help me on and off the track. “
