Gordon Murray Design, a studio founded by McLaren F1 developer Gordon Murray, has perfected its iStream Superlight technology in its latest automotive platform.

The company claims it used Formula 1 technology to develop a street-legal car foundation made from a durable aluminum chassis that is encased in a carbon composite panel. Implemented as a conventional family car, the iStream will be 20% lighter and almost 50% more durable than a modern car of this type.

The architecture is considered to be extremely versatile and suitable for a wide variety of vehicles, from battery-powered four-wheelers to mid-engine supercars to large gasoline SUVs. We suspect that the Motif EV shown some time ago (see video for details) could also be based on it.

The iStream eQuadricycle platform, which debuted at the Cenex LCV, is 2.5 meters long and weighs 400 kilograms, largely due to the heavy batteries that power the electric motors. It has a range of 225 kilometers and takes 40 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent.

The motif mentioned above is an autonomous battery four-wheeler whose overall size is comparable to the Citroen Ami and the Microlino 2.0. There is no steering wheel, but wing doors, a large infotainment touchscreen, air conditioning and ABS. It debuted as a design study in early 2020.
