At least five Formula 1 teams will take part in this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 8th to 11th. There is still time for others to join in, but even if they don’t, the event will maintain a tradition that has been maintained since 1994. Then Williams, McLaren and Arrows drove up the hill for the first time.
This year the McLaren F1 Team, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Ferrari, Williams Racing and the current world champion Mercedes-AMG Petronas have confirmed their presence. The Goodwood FoS 2021 takes place a week before the Grand Prix of Great Britain (Silverstone).
The Festival of Speed offers fans the rare opportunity to experience F1 cars and drivers live and up close this year outside of a Grand Prix weekend. So if you plan to attend this year’s event, you can enjoy “unmatched access” and watch the teams engineers prepare the cars for the legendary hill climb.
“The glamor and spectacle of Formula 1 have become an integral part of the Festival of Speed, which has been attended by so many legendary teams, drivers and cars over the years. We can’t wait to hear again and see the cars racing furiously up the hill and thrilling the fans like only Grand Prix winners can, ”said the Duke of Richmond, owner of the Goodwood Estate, who owns the Hosted the event.
Regarding the Grand Prix winners, more details on which drivers will be participating in the Festival of Speed will be announced in the coming weeks.
As for other teams that may join the “party,” we can understand the lack of an alphatauri or a haas, but Aston Martin? This is an outfit that UK fans would surely love to see on their home soil. On the other hand, teams often drive older cars for such events, and this is Aston Martin’s first year in Formula 1 since the 1960 season, so an older car would literally mean a racing point for them today.
