Sergio Perez believes compatriot Pato O’Ward is talented enough to compete with the best drivers in the world.
O’Ward, drives in IndyCar forCar McLarenHe’s got off to an excellent start to the 2021 season and is currently at the top of the table after winning the last time in Detroit.
It was his second win of the season, and his first win gave him the chance to test McLaren’s F1 car in Abu Dhabi at the end of the season on a bet with Zak Brown.
His stellar performances and connection with the UK team have sparked rumors that one day he would be in Formula 1 forever and Perez believes his fellow Mexican is good enough in terms of talent.
“I think it was great. On two weekends we got a win in Formula 1 and then a win in IndyCar, which is great for our country, ”the Red Bull driver told reporters in France.
“To be honest, I think Pato is a great talent. It just depends on how different IndyCar is from Formula 1 and how quickly it can adapt to Formula 1.
“I think he certainly has the talent to compete against the best drivers in the world.”

Like O’Ward, Perez took his second win in the series he competed last time and triumphed in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
He spent the vast majority of the race keeping Lewis Hamilton out, with the Mercedes man constantly within DRS range of the Mexican.
It was the first time the two competed against each other with an equivalent machine, and Checo says it helped him understand the seven-time world champion better.
“It’s not the same to have Hamilton behind you in a Mercedes like any other driver,” he said.
“At that moment you understand how good he is, how he manages his career, the moments when he pushes, the moments when he saves.
“I think it was my closest race with him in my entire career. I understood a lot about his behavior. He basically didn’t let me breathe from start to finish. “
