See McLaren F1 get the most luxurious car wash you've ever seen

In case you haven’t figured it out already, the supercar lifestyle is a little different from the typical auto enthusiast lifestyle. You could drive your Ford Mustang or your BMW M3 or, if you’re more upscale, your Porsche 911 Carrera. You will surely wash it nicely after the trip, but will you go through a seven step process using three different soaps just to clean the paint?

This is what the Topaz Detailing team does. We’ve seen their handicrafts before as they specialize in a wide range of cleaning, detailing, and paint protection services. All the dimensions of supercars and hypercars come into the store, but the crew still seems to be rightly impressed with the arrival of a very rare and utterly valuable McLaren F1.

It’s one thing to see an F1 even outside of an air-conditioned garage, regardless of whether the outside is dirty. Apparently the owner of that F1 road went to Spa, where he drove his Ferrari race car in a GT3 challenge – and won – and then brought the F1 home. Presumably the owner is based in the UK as Topaz Detailing has stores in London and Bristol so the McLaren got quite a mess on the trip to and from Belgium. Such is the supercar lifestyle.

How does the F1 get clean? The process begins with a thorough rinse to remove raw materials that are easy to remove. Next up is a wheel wash, followed by the first cleaner application on the entire car which is a degreaser. After rinsing, a soft soap brush is used to clean tricky crevices such as vents and badges, followed by another rinse. Next comes a thick sheath of something called snow foam that is rinsed again without scrubbing. Finally comes the shampoo, which uses a glove with more soap to remove stubborn substances. A final rinse and drying completes the laundry.

It is certainly a complicated process, but there is no denying that the hypercar is very clean when all is said and done. Is it overdone? Perhaps a better question is whether there is such a thing as overkill details when cleaning a legendary $ 15 million machine.
