“Ralf was the guy who made my life the most miserable” – Juan Pablo Montaya compares the ex-teammates Kimi Raikkonen and Ralf Schumacher.
Juan Pablo Montaya had Ralf Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen as teammates in Williams and McLaren, respectively. Montaya spoke to McLaren CEO McLaren on the official website and compared two to the “more difficult” teammate.
“Kimi and Ralf were both very strong, but Ralf was the guy who made my life the most miserable.
“Kimi was very, very good, but what made it difficult for me when I went up against Ralf was that I really hated the car. I was really feeling uncomfortable, which made my life even more difficult.
“When I came to Williams, I drove the car as fast as I could and then Ralf went out and he was seven tenths faster. I had nothing. You are wondering what to do next: you can either sit down and cry, or you can go ahead with the program and find out. “
JPM in Indy500
JPM is currently playing its trade with Indy500 and has young Pato O’Ward as a teammate. O’Ward is in high demand and will test for the McLaren F1 team later this season. Montaya had some kind words for him and how he himself has matured with age when it comes to racing.
“It’s a little bit like my team-mate with Pato now,” he added.
“He can adapt to anything. You could put the wheels on backwards and he’d still be doing the same damn lap time. I want more to make sure the car does what it needs to do first and then the lap time comes.
“I think that comes more with age. When you are young you just drive the car and when it drives sideways it doesn’t matter. I don’t mind getting it sideways, but why sideways when you can drive it straight? “
