
Lando Norris has been in shape of his life lately. Three races are done and dusted, and the McLaren driver is in 3rd place in the championship. This is largely due to Norris’ incredible consistency on the circuit, which has finished in the top 5 in all three races so far.

The British youngster stormed into fifth place after a fierce battle at the Portuguese Grand Prix. The McLaren driver later admitted that the race was both “fun” and “stressful”.
At Imola, Norris had shown incredible pace in a single lap, but there was none of that at Portimao. That day he landed on the podium in Imola, his second career podium.

Admittedly, the driver started the race at Portimao a little lower than he would have liked. However, he managed to improve from seventh to fifth with a few overtaking maneuvers. Of course, Norris had a hard time fending off relentless attacks from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
What did Lando Norris say about the Leclerc battle?
“The car felt good,” he admitted. “It was still not easy to drive, still pretty cocky, especially when it gets windy, but we obviously made great progress and we had a very good pace compared to the other guys.
“So I’m happy, but it wasn’t that easy. Charles pushed me a lot for the whole thing [final] Stint. So we still have a lot to do to make my life easier, which is always nice, but we will keep putting the pressure on. “

Still, Lando Norris confessed that he had fun in the first half of the race. However, in the second half he was pushed very hard to keep Charles Leclerc in check and manage his middle hoops. In the meantime, Daniel Ricciardo also fought his way from P16 to 9th place.

The colon finish helped McLaren maintain its position in the Constructors’ Championship in P3. It’s also worth noting that they are the only team where both drivers finish in the points in every race so far. However, Norris cautioned against being too complacent despite the progression of the outfit.
