A very brief stint in the 1990s paved the way for some of the most memorable cars ever raced on planet earth, thanks to the GT1 class of sports car racing and motorsport rules of mandatory street legal versions for homologation purposes. Thus, a series of hypercar unicorns appeared for the pride and joy of a select few, as well as for the dreams of many other car enthusiasts.
Among them we could easily find the 1992 McLaren F1 from the great Gordon Murray, the 911 GT1 street version (literally Street Version) from the extremely large Porsche AG, and the 1997 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR from the … you guessed it, the ultra-great MercedesAMG.
The reason why we particularly mention this trio is obvious, as these rarities are also the focus of the Instagram channel carlifestyle. According to the rather sleek description and the more revealing hashtags, the trio of silver legends belong to a British company called DK Engineering, which busy its time with premium sales, service, restoration and storage of icons and others alike.
Initially, we had no idea why the CLK GTR, 911 GT1 and F1 would congregate like the mighty Avengers at a Shell petrol station in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, England, other than wondering about the astronomical gas prices on the light board .
However, the puzzle was quickly solved by DK Engineering’s own contribution (also embedded below), and it turned out that everything was gearing up for a one-of-a-kind shoot for Classic Driver.
You could say this was pretty unique thanks to the nice color matching (and the fact that these are considered unicorn hypercars), but it turns out that so does the fact that there was one in one of the recent stills as well bespoke appearance of a very gives blue Kia Picanto.
Of course, it wasn’t there in the feature that appeared in the Classic Driver gallery, but it somehow escaped the watchful eye of the organizers. It was probably there for us to wonder why the second generation small city car looks like it towers over all three of these Flat-Six, V8 and V12 monsters …
