Meet Albert: A 1 of 1 McLaren Speedtail that pays homage to the F1 test mules

McLaren Speedtail

McLaren has unveiled a one-of-a-kind Speedtail commissioned by McLaren of Beverly Hills. This new Speedtail is one of the last examples ex works. Overall, the Speedtail was strictly limited to 106 units and, due to its 3-seater configuration, is considered the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1.

The dealer wanted to pay homage to Albert, a name given to the first McLaren Speedtail prototype, also known as the MVY02. But the name Albert comes from the days of the McLaren F1, it was the name given to the F1 test mules in 1992. As such, Albert is very attached to the McLaren family.

McLaren Beverly Hills has chosen some interesting colors for its unique Speedtail. Magnesium Silver is distributed on the back, while Ueno Gray fills the rest of the body. The former color was used on the first McLaren F1 road car, which debuted at the 1992 Monaco Grand Prix, while the latter was used on the 1995 Le Mans winner F1 GTR.

A “camo” exterior design was completed with body vinyl, the entire MSO exterior design took more than 12 weeks. Be on the lookout for Albert for the next few days at Monterey Car Week 2021.

The McLaren Speedtail is powered by a hybrid V8 powertrain that delivers 1070 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 250 mph.
