What are you driving and why


Me and my cars: Pratapsinh Gaekwad

Pratapsinh drives his pagoda to the MBCCR.

At the weekend I drive an Aston Martin DBS and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. I also own a Mercedes-Benz 230SL ‘Pagoda’ from 1966, which I am taking with me to the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Rally.

What’s next on your wish list?

I want to buy an older Rolls-Royce that used to belong to my family.

The most fun you’ve had in a car?

In a 25th anniversary Lamborghini Countach in London in the early 1990s.

Favorite / dream money no object car?

The McLaren F1 because it was the first hypercar in the truest sense of the word.

Who is your greatest motorsport hero of all time?

Valentino Rossi. He’s always so authentic and has the best overtaking maneuvers ever.

Favorite street?

The country roads in the UK and also the drive to the Aamby Valley.

What’s on your auto bucket list?

A road trip from Srinagar to Nubra this month with my nephew in our Land Rover Defender.

What would you do with your last liter of fuel?

Race!

What was your first car

A 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL ‘Pagoda’. It was the car my father took me to drive in and took me to kindergarten. He finally gave it to me and it’s the only car I’ll never let go of.
