McLaren unveils ‘Albert’ Speedtail on behalf of McLaren Beverly Hills

McLaren Special Operations unveils the bespoke “Albert” Speedtail, commissioned by American retailer McLaren Beverly Hills. The model pays tribute to the first Speedtail Attribute test vehicle from 2018.

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is introducing a bespoke model that pays tribute to the first 2018 Speedtail attribute test vehicle called the “Albert” Speedtail. The model was commissioned by the North American McLaren dealer McLaren Beverly Hills. The Albert was so named after the 1992 McLaren F1 test mules named after the Albert Drive site.

The prototype proves the concept of the central seating position of the Speedtail, and the ‘Albert’ prototype was the first Speedtail to be ridden on public roads. The car originally used front panels from a McLaren 720S. The outer shade is available in two colors: Magnesium Silver – the color in which the F1 road car was first shown at the 1992 Monaco Grand Prix – and Ueno Gray, the color of the F1 GTR, which won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1995.

The paint job, which was a six week process, required disassembly of the car to ensure complete accuracy and a flawless finish. After the initial paint job, the body panels were treated and assembled to ensure perfect alignment, after which the final clear coat was applied. The ‘Albert’ Speedtail will make its public debut at a luxury car and coffee event called the Sunset GT, hosted by O’Gara Beverly Hills. The event will take place on August 8, 2021 at Sunset Plaza, Los Angeles, USA.
