Circuit of the Americas, Sunday October 24th
Hear from McLaren Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo as well as from team boss Andreas Seidl after the US Grand Prix.
DANIEL RICCIARDO, # 3
| Started | 6. (because of grid penalty for BOT) |
| complete | 5. |
| Fastest lap | 1: 40.345 minutes on lap 43 (+1.860 seconds, 8th) |
| Pit stops | 2, round 11 [Medium/Hard] (2.9s) and round 30 [Hard/Hard] (2.7s) |
“I’m really happy. Very happy. We weren’t faster than the Ferraris so I’m happy to beat one of them. I had to defend pretty hard for a couple of laps there, so I’m glad I stopped him. It was a tricky race. I struggled quite a bit to keep what I had but I think on paper fifth is really good. It’s good points. We stole a bit from Carlos [Sainz], and Valtteri [Bottas] got it in the end, so that was a bit of damage control. We’ll be back in Mexico and hopefully have a little more to show against them. The fans were great, the audience was sick, hopefully they enjoyed it. “
United States Grand Prix
LANDO NORRIS, # 4
| Started | 7. (because of grid penalty for BOT) |
| complete | 8th. |
| Fastest lap | 1: 40.228s on lap 41 (+ 1.743s, 7th) |
| Pit stops | 2, round 10 [Medium/Hard] (3.2s) and round 30 [Hard/Hard] (4.2s) |
“A very difficult race today. The wind conditions and the temperature made it very difficult to watch the tires so we had quite a problem with the pace compared to today’s strong Ferraris. I also think there were some areas.” I could have done better, even if I had defended a few moves. The start was pretty exciting, but we just couldn’t stay ahead of the Ferraris. So not a great day today, but we will get together and I’m looking forward to Mexico. I just want to get back in the car and keep working hard to make progress in our championship fight. “

ANDREAS SEIDL, team manager
“P5 and P8 here at COTA today were pretty much all that was on the table. We fought a very strong Ferrari team that weekend and we did well to overtake at least one of them and keep P3 in the constructors’ championship. A strong race for Daniel today, past Carlos [Sainz] on the first lap and then built up enormous pressure up to the checkered flag. With Lando unable to make up positions at the start of the race, it became difficult for him, but he stayed in the chase until the finish line. Good work from everyone on the track this weekend who worked long hours in hot conditions, as always well supported by everyone at the plant and our colleagues at Mercedes HPP.
“It’s been a very busy week for us in Austin. We had a number of great events with our partners, sponsors and guests and really enjoyed a fabulous atmosphere in a jam-packed and lively COTA filled with brilliant, enthusiastic fans. We’re going home now, regrouping, and analyzing the race to see how we can get even more out of this package when we return across the Atlantic to the Mexican Grand Prix. “
