McLaren Automotive announces the appointment of ex-Ferrari technology boss Michael Leiters to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The 50 year old German replaces Mike Flewitt, who resigned from the British sports-car maker in October last year after eight years in charge.
In a statement, Leiters said :
“I could not be more excited to be joining McLaren Automotive as CEO at this important moment in its journey,”
“McLaren is already recognized as one of the world’s most admired luxury supercar companies. I look forward to growing that reputation for our loyal customers, employees, fans and partners as we write the next chapter in McLaren’s illustrious history.”
While at Ferrari as chief technology officer, Leiters oversaw the introduction of the marque’s first series production hybrids, the SF90 and 296 GTB, as well as the upcoming Purosangue SUV. He stepped down from the role in December as part of a leadership reorganization at the Italian luxury brand.
Before joining Ferrari, leaders held senior positions at Porsche AG, where he worked for 13 years and played a role in the development of the Cayenne SUV.
