
The Woking-based McLaren outfit has been quite vocal when it comes to topics that affect our everyday lives. The team’s CEO, Zak Brown, has spoken about donating their drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo’s racing helmets to raise awareness of an illness.

The Barrow Neurological Institute is holding an auction in Barret Jackson. McLaren will contribute to the auction by handing over the helmets worn by Ricciardo or Norris along with their signature.

Barret Jackson is organizing an auction for the Barrow Neurological Institute. The Papaya team will also contribute to the auction by donating their drivers’ helmets as well as their autographs.
Brown said in an Instagram video, “Racing fans, Zak Brown here, McLaren Racing CEO. I want you to know that we support the Barrow Neurological Foundation; very important to us in the great contribution they make around the world. A killer auction is scheduled for January 28th here in Barret Jackson. And we’re donating part of a collective price for a racing helmet used by our Grand Prix drivers. Offer big, have fun! You end up with a racing helmet and a car, that’s pretty cool. Applause!”

How did the McLaren duo fare in the 2021 season?

The Australian had a disappointing season and his triumph at Monza was the only highlight of his first year with the Woking team. The Australian finished the season with 115 points in eighth place in the table.

Norris’ 2021 season was most likely his best. Last year he only had one podium. The 22-year-old achieved four podiums and one pole position in the 2021 season. In the drivers’ championship he was sixth with 160 points.
