The streamlined concept, which combines works of art by the United Arab Emirates-based artist Rabab Tantawy with McLaren’s traditional papaya and blue colors, will run for the first time in Friday practice at the Yas Marina racetrack.
The new colors were unveiled on Tuesday evening at a special event in Abu Dhabi and are the result of a Driven by Change campaign that Vuse launched with McLaren.
Vuse wants to give emerging artists over 25 who have not received worldwide recognition for their work a platform they deserve.
Tantawy’s artwork was conceived in collaboration with automotive media designer Davide Virdis and she is the first artist in the Middle East to create a bespoke F1 livery.
Commenting on the paint job, McLaren Chief Marketing Officer Claire Cronin said, “We’re excited to bring the art and motorsport worlds together in a groundbreaking way by showing Rabab Tantawy’s artwork on our racing cars at the Abu Dhabi Grand. showcase price.
“Together with Vuse, Driven by Change is a unique opportunity to use our global stage to support emerging talent and give undiscovered creatives the platform they deserve.
“Rabab’s art is inspiring and we’re proud to be racing your papaya-influenced creation this weekend.”
The paint job change for McLaren in Abu Dhabi comes after the great success of the team running in the golf colors at the Monaco Grand Prix.
