The 21-year-old’s £ 40,000 team-issued watch was stolen when he was attacked by two men while returning to his McLaren GT sports car in an official Wembley car park.

A statement from McLaren said Norris was “uninjured but understandably shaken” by the incident that occurred after England lost to Italy in a tense penalty shoot-out after the game ended 1-1 after extra time.

The Euro 2020 final was overshadowed by violent scenes before and after the match on Sunday evening, with a number of un-ticketed fans breaking into Wembley Stadium.

The Metropolitan Police said up to 53 arrests were made in Wembley amid the rioting, while nineteen police officers were injured.
