Having previously worked with Honda and Renault, the McLaren F1 team has a lot of experience with powertrains for their cars. After switching to Mercedes engines after finishing third last season, Lando Norris believes they can help the Silver Arrows upgrade their already dominant engines.

Lando Norris says the Mercedes engine has more speed
Speaking to HypeBeast, Norris said, “In some areas, performance is definitely improved. Actual engine performance is slightly better, which means more straight line speed and more power, but all is not perfect. I want to be positive, but there are some things that we have worked on a lot since the season started.

“Some of the things we had last year were actually pretty good and we can use the experience of working with Honda, working with Renault and then giving this feedback to Mercedes. But it was definitely part of the improvement over last year.
“It’s a bit of a separation between the car, which is better when I do it a little better, and the engine, which also contributes.

“Any small speed of 1 to 2 km / h that you can reach at the end of a straight is quite a lot in a racing situation, in qualifying or when defending people. You are a little further forward and can hold the position. Things like this add up and it doesn’t seem like much when you look at it, but sometimes it can make or break a podium, ”concluded Norris.
Norris hopes to win the championship with McLaren after signing a new deal
The British driver has been in mighty shape since the start of the 2021 season. Norris even scored a podium at the Emilia GP by finishing third. Now that a new multi-year deal has been signed, he hopes to win the world title.
Norris said: “McLaren has been a huge support since my junior series days and I’ve really enjoyed learning and developing as a driver since then.

“My commitment to McLaren is clear: my goal is to win races and become Formula 1 world champion, and that’s what I want to do with this team. Since joining in 2017, we have consistently developed further and we have clear ambitions for the future together, ”he concluded.
Norris is certainly an exciting driver on the team and will have a bright future on the grid. He is currently fourth in the championship. If he continues his performances, he may have a real chance for the title.
