Perez was fifth ahead of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz and McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo. But Perez, who also suffered two five-second penalties for knocking Charles Leclerc off the track twice, was downgraded to sixth place, lifting Sainz one place.

George Russell missed his first top 10 finish for Williams after Fernando Alonso overtook him with three laps to go. The Englishman finished 11th
