At $ 20,000,000 and up, owning a McLaren F1 is a luxury only available to a few. However, buying a well-designed imitation – such as this one based on the Porsche Boxster – could be the way to go.
The car recently showed up on eBay with little accompanying information other than that it was in the Czech Republic. What really stands out is the sheer quality of the workmanship. The exterior imitates the original F1 proportions down to the smallest detail, the doors swing open like butterfly wings and the headlights are also authentic. The matte black wheels contrast well with the bodywork, there is a distinctive F1 roof scoop, and the rear is so well designed it might even fool some McLaren fans that it is the original.
The interior is largely Boxster – notice especially the dashboard and automatic transmission – but the driver’s seat is mounted in the middle. This detail alone sets this replica apart from most and makes it one of the most beautiful in our eyes.
