The win at Silverstone translates into Sainz becoming the second Spanish driver to win an F1 race. Now that he has the first win under his belt, it would be an amazing spectacle to see if he can announce himself as the title contender in 2022.
Lando Norris boosted by Carlos Sainz’s victory at the British GP
Formula 1 consists of the top 20 drivers of the world, aiming for the top step of the podium at each race. It is a cut-throat competition which understandably makes it difficult for drivers to have close personal relations with each other. On the contrary, Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris have proved this theory wrong repeatedly.
The former Mclaren duo are best buds off track. They are often spotted playing golf together in their time off from the pinnacle of motorsport. Yet, on track, the rivalry exists as their respective teams were in direct competition with each other till last year.
Norris opined on Sainz grabbing the initial victory in their respective F1 careers prior to him. He said “I would hope so, he’s in a Ferrari which goes a second a lap quicker than me! I gave him a little hug earlier. I mean, we shared a lot of good memories in ’19 and ’20.”
