Lando Norris and McLaren signed a new long-term contract earlier this year. With this in mind, the British youngster announced that he hopes to be a McLaren team boss soon.

The 21-year-old is currently in his third season with the Woking squad and his new contract runs until the end of the 2023 season.

He said, “That’s my goal, that’s what I want to achieve. I want to be the type to lead the team, who have been with them for many years, who have helped them through the bad times and helped them get through the good times.

“That’s the position I want to be in and that’s why I’m still here, that’s why I signed for a few more years because I want that position.”

During his first two seasons with the UK marquee, Norris worked with Carlos Sainz and built a great relationship. After the Spaniard jumped to Ferrari, the team brought Daniel Ricciardo as a partner of the Briton.

The Australian moved from Renault, with Fernando Alonso in his place.
