
Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz have one of the most impressive relationships in the paddock. Best friends off the track and commendable drivers on the track. With mutual respect and passion, the two friends bond one of those rare friendships that grace the breakneck world of F1.

The two were teammates at McLaren for two years, a driving force behind their solidarity. However, Norris had initially underestimated the power that Sainz represented. “I think Carlos is one of the best drivers in Formula 1. I also didn’t look that good because he’s an extremely good driver and did a very good job – fair play with him, for example.”

The Briton admits that he feels overshadowed by his team-mate. “I think I was shadowed a bit by him for doing an exceptional job. I think this year I took the next step that would have been the same or maybe a little better than him. “

After being overshadowed by Sainz, Norris confidently accepted Daniel Ricciardo’s challenge. Though Ricciardo had a boring few years before joining McLaren, his Red Bull career spoke volumes for his caliber as a driver.

However, after working with Sainz, Norris was ready to work with the Aussie. “With Daniel, I wasn’t nervous in any way when he came. A lot of people thought I might be able to do it or asked the question because he’s a multiple race winner, does he have podiums. “
