Karting: About the new racing outfit from Lando Norris LN Racing Kart

Lando Norris had terribly quiet F1 outings in 2019 and 2020 and barely hit the headlines, but what followed was an unexpected transition.

After the rather stale seasons, Norris jumped to the skies by kicking off an impressive third season with McLaren in 2021. It only took the Briton less than half of the 2021 season to break his highest season record to date.

In addition, Norris secured his first Formula 1 pole position at the Russian Grand Prix in 2021, narrowly displacing his former team-mate Carlos Sainz. And barely days after the bittersweet racing weekend in Sochi, Norris made headlines again when he set up his own karting team.

Norris starts karting campaign as owner

To give the next generation a better way into Formula 1, Norris set up his own karting team called LN Racing Kart. The Brit had immense support from the OTK Kart Group to build this racing team.

If you’re wondering who OTK is, well, Norris won his first World Kart Championship in 2014 with the OTK-run FA Racing Kart. As a result, the two of them have got along well since then, which was a crucial aid in Norris’ most recent initiative.

The duo have been working on building this racing outfit since 2020 and couldn’t officially reveal it until September 29, 2021.

What did Lando Norris say?

The McLaren driver revealed the outfit on social media and posted a picture of himself posing next to his kart. He went on to write: “Say hello to the LN Racing Kart! This is a project I worked on with OTK last year and I am very proud to say that it is here now.

“It all started with karting for me. I won my first world championship on the OTK FA Racing Kart and I can’t wait for the day when someone wins their first championship on the LN Racing Kart. Get the future talents! Let’s do the LN Racing Kart, OTK & RFM, ”read Norris’ statement on Twitter.

Overall, after Lewis Hamilton’s X44 team in the Extreme E racing series, Norris is the second British driver on the current F1 grid to own a racing team. So will this new journey bring the young McLaren driver more success?
