Daniel Ricciardo has officially completed 10 years in Formula 1. Ricciardo has got around from a fresh-faced rookie at the now defunct HRT to an experienced driver at McLaren. The Australian driver recently spoke to F1 about his career and how it has grown steadily.
He said, “One thing I’m going to say is that the desire to compete probably only got stronger. Maybe it’s still because I haven’t achieved what I’m still striving for.
“I still have to control my emotions because I just want to do Sunday and get out of there. This desire, if at all, has increased in intensity. “
The native Perth American made a great debut for McLaren with his new teammate Lando Norris. Although Norris finished in a good fourth place, Ricciardo was not far away in seventh. Of course, the Australian driver still needs some time to get used to life in Woking. However, he seems to have taken on the task like watering a fish.
What can you expect from Daniel Ricciardo in 2021?
To be honest, the UK marquee is hoping Ricciardo’s expertise can benefit them. While Norris is talented, he doesn’t have enough knowledge to help develop the car. Only an experienced mind like Daniel Ricciardo will be useful in contributing to the outfit.

At the same time, Ricciardo is a proven race winner in his Red Bull days. He also took a couple of podiums during his Renault stint before jumping the ship to McLaren. So the Aussie is a valuable asset to McLaren and he can help Norris in a mentor-like role.
In other words, under Daniel’s watchful eye, Norris can grow and develop as a driver. The Brit is still young and can easily be molded into a better driver for the British marquee. At the same time, Daniel Ricciardo can present his teammates and other rivals with a great challenge. There is no doubt that Ricciardo will want to return to the podium regularly. Without a doubt, many of his fans have missed his famous shoeys.
