“I hate that” – Alpine Director threatens F1 over Ferrari’s latest proposal

REPORTS: Ferrari Unleashes Revolutionary F1 Engine at Turkey GP

Since 2020, the motive of Formula 1 has shifted towards producing better and equal races between the teams by limiting the technical regulations to a certain level and incorporating the upper budget limit into the sport. However, Alain Prost, former Ferrari and McLaren driver, admitted his hatred of the inverted grid. During a podcast by the Alpine F1 team, the four-time world champion expected that he would give up the sport. Why could you ask?

Well, according to the French, Formula 1 is all about dominance, which means the best team wins. Therefore, changing the tradition to increase competitiveness within teams would sabotage the efforts of the best team.

“I hate that! I hate that! If they introduced a reverse grid in Formula 1, I would probably give up the sport,” he said on the podcast “Prost in the Paddock”.

“Because I think it’s the worst thing you can do for Formula One. I prefer to dominate a team because they did the best job instead of having that.”

Prost rejects the latest Ferrari proposal

The 66-year-old estimated that he was open to Formula 1 experimentation with such new concepts, but fears that Formula 1 is deviating from its traditional path, which has been the case for 70 years.

“I’m very excited to test things out, you know, when it’s possible. However, you need to understand why you want to make these decisions. What is the reason for… you know? ”Said Prost.

“Formula 1 has to remain some kind of tradition that means technology and top-class sport, and we have to understand that the winning team or the best team has to win because it’s the best, not because it’s the spirit at the end of Formula 1 Added the Frenchman.

Overall, while Mercedes and Red Bull are open to a reverse grid, Mercedes and Red Bull don’t seem that interested, considering that both teams have worked pretty hard over the past few years to build strong dominance, and it hasn’t it would be fair to scratch them away to one of them.
