Herta doubles after winning Laguna Seca

Grosjean stars with a podium fee

He always had a big smile, but we’re seeing it a lot more this season than last. Romain Grosjean loves his IndyCar adventure after his miserable last season in Formula 1 with Haas – and that terrible fire accident in Bahrain – and the Frenchman took the third podium of his first season after a race to catch up in Laguna.

From 13NS, Grosjean tore his way through the field in his Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing Dallara and drove a fantastic outside pass to O’Ward at Turn 2 with his fresher tires in the closing stages. He then chased Graham Rahal and grabbed third place and with At a breathtaking pace, Palou seemed to give late headaches. But a Zanardi-style dive trying to outflank NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson in the Corkscrew almost ended in disaster. Grosjean surprised Johnson when he came from a long way off, and the couple made contact, fortunately without any significant consequences. But the delay was enough to give Palou the respite he needed to confirm his second place finish. Grosjean was still around when they took the checkered flag.

Two days before the race, Grosjean made some headlines after crashing a Honda Civic Type R pace car that appeared to be having a braking problem entering the pit lane. It is said that the impact was sufficient to deploy the airbag and add to his blush. Teammate Ed Jones was sitting next to him when the incident happened. But everything was forgotten on Sunday evening. Grosjean has been linked to a ride with Andretti Autosport for 2022 and has even ventured onto an oval this year, despite vowing to only drive on road and street circuits. It looks like he’s really addicted to his new life in the US scene.
