Two races in the Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen from Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes have clearly established themselves as the class of the field.

Verstappen and Hamilton finished the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday in Imola, Italy, 1: 2.

Verstappen had a flawless race while Hamilton struggled one lap behind after retiring in the middle of the race and falling back to ninth place. Hamilton usually took us to one lap at a red flag time triggered by a crash with Mercedes ‘Valtteri Bottas and Williams’ George Russell on lap 32 of the 63 lap race.

Hamilton came out of the red flag time and took Lando Norris for second place on lap 60.

Verstappen’s last profit margin in his eleventh F1 career win was a full 22.0 seconds ahead of Hamilton. McLaren’s Lando Norris finished second, 23.7 seconds back. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz from Ferraris finished the race 4-5.

The race started in the wet and ended in the dry.

“It was very challenging, especially at the beginning, very slippery,” said Verstappen. “It is not easy to choose the right time for the slicks.”

Verstappen and Hamilton have now split the first two races of the 2021 season.

Hamilton, who took the bonus point for the fastest lap, leads the championship by one point over Verstappen (44-43). Norris is third in the points with 27 points.
