Max Verstappen couldn’t complete a hat trick of the fastest times with Lewis Hamilton Crowning the last training session of the Grand Prix of Styria.
Again that Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team Duo from Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas appeared to be on the back foot compared to Red Bull Racingbut the team managed to pull a few quick laps to beat their rivals.
In the battle for the top, Hamilton and Bottas finished first and third, respectively, with the duo from Verstappen in third place. Sergio Perez was not far behind in fourth.
Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda seem to be in good shape. Pierre Gasly was one of the outstanding riders of the year and his pace is getting faster and faster. He was fifth fastest with his team-mate Yuki Tsunoda followed just behind him in sixth place.
Scuderia Ferrari will hope the disaster of Paul Ricard behind them after being of the French Grand Prix without points. However, it is Red Bull Ring wasn’t nice to them with the duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. struggle to keep the pace of those who are ahead. Leclerc was seventh and Sainz Jr. was thirteenth.
Fernando Alonso was the fastest in the fight with the Alpine F1 Team. He finished eighth with his teammate Esteban Ocon down in the twelfth. The Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 team Pairing of Lance walk and Sebastian Vettel finished the top ten in ninth and tenth place.
The Red Bull Ring was a track that Antonio Giovinazzi has done consistently well. He was eleventh fastest with Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN Teammate Kimi Raikkonen down in the fifteenth.
George Russell took fourteenth place. He’s hoping to get back into Q2 and his pace has certainly shown it. Williams races Teammate Nicholas Latifi was eighteenth.
McLaren F1 team had a bad session. Daniel Ricciardo couldn’t repeat his exploits from Friday’s second session where he finished second. His fastest time led him to the finish line in seventeenth. Lando Norris drove a time when he was fifth fastest. Like most of the drivers on the grid, however, his time was taken because he had exceeded the track limit. He finished nineteenth.
Mick Schumacher finished sixteenth and Nikita Mazepin completed the starting grid and finished the session in twentieth place. Practice wasn’t good for him as Mazepin did a lap on Turn 1 during a flying lap.
