Lando Norris: “A tough day with difficult conditions. We just didn’t have the pace today, so it was very difficult to achieve a lot more than we achieved [Sergio] Pérez was a lot faster than us. Not the result we wanted but I think it was the best result we could really get, so we’ll try again tomorrow and see if we can do better. “
Daniel Ricciardo: “Obviously not where we want to be. The track dried out steadily and everyone kept improving on the last lap. We didn’t take that big step on the second set of softs, and we found it was with the soft Difficult most of the weekend so it’s just a shame to be so far back on the grid. We’re going to find a way to come back tomorrow and try to understand the soft tire a bit better. It was probably a bit of timing too “We got some yellow flags at turn one, which brought us out of step early on. But I’ve already got it behind us, so we’re going to lower our heads for tomorrow’s race.”
Andreas Seidl, Team Principal: “A challenging qualifying for us today with a disappointing result, even though we worked hard overnight to get more performance out of the car. We didn’t take a big step forward and that meant that today we are about to Pace had to fight. ” – especially on the soft tires. This meant that Daniel’s session was ended prematurely, qualifying P16 and Lando, after he had got through to Q3 on the medium tire, qualified in P8 and will start from P7. Tomorrow is another day, we expect drought conditions and will work hard again tonight to see if we can do a little more in the race trim with the aim of bringing both cars forward. “
