After giving the go-ahead to the UK government’s event research program as a pilot event, the festival drew eager crowds eager to celebrate all auto and motorsport, including Hollywood star Tom Cruise on Sunday and Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden on Friday.
Well-known favorites provided entertainment at the ultimate motorsport garden party; the Red Arrows roared overhead on Friday and Sunday, a row of elegant concours cars adorned the Cartier Style et Luxe lawn, while the Central Feature received a multimedia makeover and both the audience of the event and those who enjoyed the occasion, a virtual Lotus Emira showed at home.
This year the Festival of Speed celebrated the Maestros – the great all-rounders of motorsport and one of the most important of them was “The Captain” Roger Penske, who for the first time since his race at the Goodwood Motor Circuit 1969 in a Ferrari 250 GTO returned to Goodwood.

At the side of Penske was celebrated Mario Andretti, who was reunited with some of his master machines, while Jacky Ickx, who unfortunately could not take part, was strongly represented by a class of sports, GT and sedan winners.
After an 18-month hiatus, during which there were practically no motor shows, numerous new cars made their debut at First Glance.
