French GP: Team Notes on Qualification – McLaren

French GP: Team Notes on Qualification - McLaren

Lando Norris: “Difficult qualification, not really the position I was hoping for. I had planned a little more, but we didn’t quite have the pace. The next cars were a few tenths ahead. I felt like I had could be a tenth or two better on my lap, but I don’t think I could have been more than one position higher. We weren’t fast enough today to fight them, but I hope we can do some things tomorrow work and come back stronger. There are still good chances for points and that is our goal. “

Daniel Ricciardo: “It was positive that we made it through to Q3 with the medium tire, that was definitely a goal. My last lap felt good and I had the feeling that we had enough pace to be better than tenth I’m a little disappointed, not a little bit up on the grid, but it is what it is. We’re still looking for the extra tenths for a single lap so we’ll try to make a difference tomorrow. All in Most of all I’m very happy with the performance. Everyone is fast at the moment and times are so tight, so we’ll work to keep up the pace. “

Andreas Seidl, Team Principal: “It was a difficult qualifying for us today with some challenges on the way. It was good that we made Q3 with both cars on medium tires, and in the end we have to acknowledge that qualifying at P8 and P10 is pretty much where the car has been this weekend in terms of pace.

“On the positive side, it is gratifying to have both cars again in Q3 and our starting positions offer us a real chance to fight for good points tomorrow.”
