When the F1 teams announced their lineups for the 2021 season, the overall focus was on two teams; McLaren and Ferrari. In particular, the former had two of the most charismatic drivers as teammates – Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo. But in reality a turn came. It wasn’t anyone who drew attention, it was the alpine duo.

Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon, two drivers from very different generations, somehow managed to build a strong relationship within one season. And of course the weight of their relationship became apparent when Alonso went to Parc Ferme to hug Ocon after he won his first F1 race at the Hungarian GP.

Hence, the Frenchman admitted that working with Alonso was one of the best things that happened to him in 2021.
What did the alpine driver say?
As Soy Motor reports, Ocon talked about his friendship with the 2-time world champion and continued to call it a privilege to drive by his side.

“It was a season full of emotions. I met a great person and friend. Running with Fernando was a privilege. The plan is unfolding, ”he said. “Congratulations on our victory in Hungary and on Fernando’s podium in Qatar. Plus fifth place in Spain and sixth in the overall Portuguese ranking. “

Ocon is looking forward to the 2022 F1 season
Ocon revealed that the painful moments, like those in Saudi Arabia, have managed to make the whole thing stronger than ever as he looks forward to a potentially stronger 2022 season.

“We were frustrated with losing the podium in Saudi Arabia. Sometimes we were sad trying to get back in shape. We overcame all of these emotions together, thinking that we had our strongest moment in 2021, ”he said.
