F1 is all about Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Sebastian Vettel for the past few years. Rather than ‘years’, saying the past decade would be more suitable. Except for Nico Rosberg in 2016, the trio has been the dominant force in the sport since 2010.

There have been a number of battles for supremacy between the three. However, when asked who’s the driver who makes him terrified, Hamilton without being hesitant picked “Max.” Hamilton probably picked the Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, for his fearless driving style.

In an Instagram video, Lewis was asked, “You’ve got Sebastian Vettel on the left-hand side, Max on the inside, What are you looking for?” To that, the Mercedes driver answered, “Go to the left-hand side cause Max is on your right. Haha. Toto, don’t be taken off by Max.”
When asked again, “Which one are you worried about more?” Lewis answered, “Max,” without even hesitating. “Na, I just told you that,” followed the former McLaren driver.
Why did Lewis Hamilton pick Max over Vettel?

It is believed that Max is ruthless when it comes to one-on-one tussles. In the earlier days, the Red Bull driver earned his name “Mad Max” due to the number of crashes he got involved in. From crashing with his Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo in the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to pushing Kimi Raikkonen off in the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix, the list is quite long.

Interestingly, Lewis also battled with Vettel during his days at Red Bull and then at Ferrari. However, there isn’t much record of the duo crashing into each other. That is probably the biggest reason for not choosing the current Aston Martin driver as his most fierce rival.

Even though the video is quite old, Hamilton must have seen the crashes coming. In the latest 2021 season, the Dutchman collided with the Mercedes driver a minimum of four times. Apart from Monza, Max came close to Lewis in Saudi Arabia, Imola, and Silverstone where Lewis knocked Verstappen out of the track.
